Callus and suspension culture of Lupinus angustifolius cv. Turkus

Callus and suspension culture of Lupinus angustifolius cv. Turkus - Plant Science Letters, 32, p.183-192, 1983 .

A procedure for callus and cell suspension culture of Lupinus angustifolius was developed. Callus was initiated from hypocotyl explants of lupin on modified Linsmaier-Skoog (LS)medium. The growth was induced with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D)/kinetin (KIN)(50:1. w/w). Modifications of phytohormone concentrations and their ratios as well as organic compounds combinations were necessary to obtain vigorous callus growth. A 2,4-D/KIN (5 : 1, w/w)was used for initiation b_nd subcultures of cell suspension. In the above conditions cell suspension grew into big and compact aggregates. Dilution of basal constituents and alteration of the 2,4-D to KIN ratio (4 : 1 w/w)gave suspension cultures of L. angustifolius that grew as single cells and small aggregates.
