Considerations on an electrochemical model of oxidative phosphorylation
Considerations on an electrochemical model of oxidative phosphorylation
- BioelectroChemistry and Bioenergetics, 9(6), p.663-668, 1982 .
Oxidative phosphorylation is reconsidered in terms of electrochemistry and irreversible thermodynamics. The non-vanishing proton balance of consecutive redox couples is taken to be the reason for a net transport of protons across the mitochondrial membrane. Differences between biological and galvanic cells are elaborated.
