The Determination of Amino-acids with Ninhydrin

The colorimetric method for the determination of amino-acids based on the reaction with ninhydrin has been systeniatically examined. It has been found possible to obtain a stoicheiometric reaction for most amino-acids with a quantitative yield of diketohydrindylidenediketohydrindamine, the probable end-product of the reaction, by a simple procedure suitable for routine analysis.
