An integrated battery management system (BMS)prototype was developed to control the charging and discharging of a lead acid battery from a photovoltaic generator. The BMS incorporates a series solar regulator and performs temperature compensated charging. It is valuable in a stand-alone photovoltaic (PV)system and helps in enabling the implementation of intelligent control strategies.
