This chapter is concerned with the 'characterisation' of polyimides. For clarity, the chapter has been split into two parts. Sub-chapter 5.1 addresses linear (i.e. thermoplastic)polyimides and the ever important question of molecular weight. Sub-chapter 5.2 outlines some of the techniques used in the characterisation of thermosetting polyimides.
