El Henequén se reproduce asexualmente por brotes a partir de rizomas y en ciclo de vida de 15-20 años florece una sola vez después de la cual muere, debido a estos dos procesos naturales la variación genética en la planta es muy limitada. A consecuencia de esto en el presente trabajo se intentó la regeneración de plantas a través de la embriogénesis somática. Ya que se conoce que la embriogenesis somática se puede originar de una solo célula y generar variaciones somaclonales. |
