Dada la deficiente información bibliográfica sobe la importancia económica, taxonomía, biología y citogénetica del genero agave, en particular de las secciones Rigidae y Sisalana, se consideró de interés para esta investigación y futuros trabajos de mejoramiento, taxonómicos y evolutivos, resumir la información respectiva disponible, así como determinar el comportamiento cromosómico en mitosis y meiosis de cinco especies del género, productoras de fibra en el estado de Yucatán. |
