Opine synthesis segregated in the progeny of T1-plants (T2-plants), Two opine-positive T2-plants had essentially the same T-DNA structure as the parental T1-plant, Clonal constitution of hairy root cultures, facility of regeneration, stability of opine synthesis, and T-DNA structure appear to be valuable attributes of the hairy root system for studies on genetic engineering of plants.
