Un total de 37 extractos se seleccionaron del banco de la unidad de Biotecnología del CICY, por su capacidad para inhibir al hongo patógeno Alternaria Tagética. Dichos extractos se evaluaron contra A. chrysanthemi empleando los bioensayos en microdilución y posteriormente el de dilución en agar. Los resultados señalaron a los extractos etanólicos (>75 por ciento) y acuoso (>50 por ciento) de la raíz de Acalypha gaumeri, así como al extracto acuoso de la corteza de Bonellia flammea (>50 por ciento), como los mejores extractos para inhibir a A. chrysanthemi. Con estos resultados, los dos extractos acuosos activos se evaluaron en cultivos de crisantemo a nivel de campo, midiendo la severidad de la enfermedad mediante una escala diagramática. A la séptima semana de aplicación de los extractos, la severidad de la enfermedad presentó una reducción de hasta un 67 y 49 por ciento para A. Gaumeri y B. flammea, respectivamente. Estos resultados corroboraron los resultiados in vitro y señalan el gran potencial de estas plantas para seguir siendo investigadas para su posible aplicación en el control de A. chrysanthemi en campo. |
