La biotecnología basada en la ingeniería genética representa un paso más en pos del germoplasma ideal que sea la base de una nueva ola de progreso agrícola. No obstante los beneficios que pudieran derivarse de los logros alcnzados en dicha búsqueda, la biotecnología agrícola moderna ha estado acompañada por el debate sobre su uso. Tal discusión ha sido mayor para el caso del maíz GM debido a la importancia que tiene ese cultivo a nivel mundial. En éste panorama, expertos en la materia han analizado el caso de la aopción del maíz GM en ocho paíss iberoamericanos: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombiam España, Honduras, México y Uruguay. |
