El libro de Matthew Butler -fruto de una labor archivística muy amplia- ofrece una nueva visión de esta convulsión social, y plantea que la rebelión debe entenderse no como simple reacción de un pueblo católico frente a un estado secularizador, sino como una contienda librada por facciones populares que diferían de manera significativa en la práctica de su religión. |
