Entre las plantas utilizadas en Yucatán como plantas medicinales se encuentra la Sansevieria hyacinthoides, la cual ha sido propuesta como fuente alternativa para la obtención de perfumes y esteroides. Como resultado de la obtención del método de extracción de sapogeninas de Domínguez (mod. por J. Reyes) se obtiene entre otras, una mancha negra que corresponde a un aceite esencial de color amarillo y aroma agradable. La purificación e identificación de los componentes principales de este metabolito, es llevada a cabo por cromatografía de gases-espectrometría de masas y mediante el aislamiento de la mancha negra por cromatografía en columna y su subsecuente purificación por el método cromatografía de gases-espectrometría de masas obteniendo como resultado la identificación de 8 compuestos, los cuales son: ac. 2-etoxihexanoico, 3-metilhexanoato de metilo, aldehido sanseviérico, 2-metoxi-5-dodecanol, 2-metoxi-6-undecanol, C14H20O2 dimetil cetal del 3,3,7-trimetil-octanal y ac. biciclo [3.2.1] octan-1-oico |
