Although twin screw compounding extruders have become increasingly important in recent years, single screw extruders have a number of advantages. With a better understanding of their mixing limitations and the basic requirements for achieving good dispersive and distributive mixing, single screw extruders can be used for many compounding applications. This applies articularly to products requiring good distributive mixing.
