Studies on liquid uptake through a parafilm membrane showed a direct correlation between time and the amount of liquid taken up by the aphids. The addition of phosphamidon to the diet disrupted this correlation. The dark strain of M. persicae had a significantly higher LTs0 value than the light strain, no value being calculable for the Dutch strain. A method is described whereby quantitative evaluations of diet acceptability can be made using the LTs0 values and an example using 0.1
