The major insecticidal fraction of poleo (Lippia stoechadifolia)was purified by thin-layer chromatography and repeated crystallizations. Analyses of ultraviolet, infrared, mass, and t3C and 'H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra indicate that the active compound is a monoterpenoid, pulegone- l ,2-epoxide.
