Treatment with gibberellic acid can increase the germination of Solanum laciniatum and S. aviculare seed to more than 90 percent and 80 percent respectively in 3 weeks under laboratory conditions. Stratification and thiourea treatments can also increase germination but their effects are inconsistent. Adequate germination of S. laciniatum can be obtained by treating seed with gibberellic acid and maintaining it in dry storage for 6 weeks aftertreatment.
