Resumen: The article offers information on the management of palm Astrocaryum malybo, found in Colombia, in mat production which has been a substantial handicraft industry in the Caribbean lowlands. It notes that palms can be reaped when they are 6-7 years old and have leaves which spread to 2-3 meters long. It mentions that the palm fibers must be moistened before being used to prevent breakage.
