Plant commensal microbes have evolved a variety of strategies to interfere with or bypass MTI to establish symbiosis. Recent progress reported by Teixeira et al., Colaianni et al., Zhang et al., Fröschel et al., and Zhou et al. has been made in elucidating how commensal microbes regulate MTI.
