Post-Fire Establishment of adenostoma fasciculatum and Ceanothus greggii in a Southerm California Chaparral: influence of Herbs and Increased Soil-nutrients and Water - San Diego State University. Systems Ecology Research Group, p.1-5, 1988 .

The influence of herbaceous plants and soil resources on the establishment of A. fasciculatum and C. greggii has been studied following burn in 57 year-old chaparral. Nutrients (N, P or both)and water (on biweekly intervals during the spring months and through the whole dry season)were added to plots having bolth species. Impact of herbaceous plants on strub seedings was assessed by manipulating three herb-density levels in treated plots and comparing with untreated ones.
