The author of numerous papers on polymer degradation and stabilization, he has done pioneering work in the área of UV-induced degradation and polymers in harsh climates. He is a member of the American Chemical Society. the Society of Plastics Engineers. and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Dr. Hamid received the M.S. degree (1980) in chemical engineering from KFUPM and the Ph.D. degree (1988) in chemistry from the City University, London, England.
