Tema(s): Recursos en línea: Resumen: Because of the hypocholesteremic properties attributed to extracts of Guatteria gaumeri in folk medicine, the non-polar fraction was examined and three propenylbenzenes and asaraldehyde were isolated. Asarone, the major component appears to be of great importance in the pharmacological properties exhibited by this plant. Although closely related, ß-asarone was not detected. The remaining propenylbenzenes were the minor components and their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods.
