This work demonstrates a sustainability assessment of stabilisers for use in PVC pipes. The two key stabilisers selected compare calcium-zinc and so-called organically based stabiliser systems (OBS by Crompton). The methodology of the work is based on a robust set of sustainability principles known as The Natural Step (TNS)methodology. The sustainability assessment covers four steps: (i)Discussion of objectives and strategies. (ii)Analysis of current operations based on the TNS System conditions. (iii)Establishment of a plan and possible actions. (iv)Prioritisation and management.
