HALIM HAMID is Manager of the Petroleum Refining & Petrochemicals Section in the Research Institute, and a faculty member in the Chemical Engineering Department, of the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). Dhahran. Saudi Arabia. He was an affiliate professor at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. and a visiting professor at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. The author of numerous papers on polymer degradation and stabilization, he has done pioneering work in the área of UV-induced degradation and polymers in harsh climates. He is a member of the American Chemical Society. the Society of Plastics Engineers. and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Dr. Hamid received the M.S. degree (1980) in chemical engineering from KFUPM and the Ph.D. degree (1988) in chemistry from the City University, London, England.
