A single cylinder direct injection diesel engine was used for this work. Tests were done at constant speed of 1500 rev min-1 at varying power outputs. In dual fuel operation the methanol to Jatropha oil ratio was maintained at 3:7 on the volume basis. This is close to the fraction of methanol used to prepare the ester with Jatropha oil.
