520 3 _aIn this paper, tensile behavior of Kevlar fiber reinforced aluminum laminates (KRALL)has been determined at strain rates 100, 500 and 1300 s-1. Yield strength, tensile strength and failure strain of the composite all increased with increasing strain rate. The application of pre-stress on KRALL increased the yield strength, decreased the failure strain, but had no effect on the tensile strength. A linear damage model has been combined with Weibull distribution function to establish a constitutive equation for KRALL. The results show that strength of KRALL obeyed the bimodal Weibull distribution, and the strength of pre-stressed KRALL obeyed unimodal Weibull istribution.
