245 1 0 _aThe Effect of Temperature on the Oil Content and Fatty Acid Composition of the Oils from several Oil Seed Crops
490 0 _vCanadian Journal of Botany, 43, p.63-69, 1965
520 3 _aPlants oí rape, saffiower, sunflower, flax, and castor bean were grown at temperatures oí 10, 16, 21, and 26.5 ce foc the period of seed development. üil content 01 sunfiower, saffiower, and Castor bean was not affected by temperature. Highest oil content in rape and flax was found at the lowest temperature and a continual decrease was observed with ¡neceases in temperature. Fatty acid composition oí the oil fram safflower and castor bean was not affected by a change in temperature. In the other three species the amollot oí the more highly unsaturated (att)' acids decreased as the temperature was increased. This decrease was aecompanied by an inecease in oleie aeid. The levels oí saturated fatty acids in aH oí the species were not affeeted by changes in tempecature.
