| 520 | 3 | _aPlant tissue culture is a highly versatile technique which leads to micropropagation of thousands of plantlets from a small portion of the mother plant in vitro. This review for the first time has addressed and presented all the accomplishments made till date through the use of mass spectrometry for plant tissue culture analysis. The achievements enabled through the fusion of these distinctly different technologies in the area of MS based proteomics and MS based metabolomics and secretomics have been elaborated. The lacunae in not employing the use of the recently evolved MS techniques especially the imaging MS technique is highlighted. If merely applying traditional forms of MS could bring about the achievements reported, then the use of the state-of-the-art sophistications in MS is proposed to yield greater breakthroughs. | |
