245 1 0 _aChemical Depolymerization of PET Bottles via Glycolysis
490 0 _vRecycling of polyethylene terephthalate bottles, 4, p.61-84, 2019
520 3 _aDepolymerization is a tertiary recycling technique fundamentally stands for the conversion of a polymer chain into its monomer units along with oligomer with related formation of gaseous products. Glycolysis techniques are now recognized as innovative environmental friendly technique due to the involvement of glycols as green solvent/reagent. In glycolysis, polyethylene terephthalate (PET)polymer degraded in molecular level in the presence of trans-esterification catalyst. Most frequently used glycols for this purpose are ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and dipropylene glycol by involving: (1)catalytic, (2)solvent-assisted, (3)supercritical, and microwave-assisted glycolysis. The target towards every such modification is the production of value added material from low cost waste sources.
