505 0 _aThe Hinode (Solar-B) Mission: An Overview -- Data Archive of the Hinode Mission -- The X-Ray Telescope (XRT) for the Hinode Mission -- The Hinode X-Ray Telescope (XRT): Camera Design, Performance and Operations -- The EUV Imaging Spectrometer for Hinode -- The Solar Optical Telescope for the Hinode Mission: An Overview -- The Solar Optical Telescope of Solar-B (Hinode): The Optical Telescope Assembly -- Image Stabilization System for Hinode (Solar-B) Solar Optical Telescope -- Polarization Calibration of the Solar Optical Telescope onboard Hinode.
520 _aThe Solar-B satellite was launched in 2006 by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (ISAS/JAXA), and was renamed Hinode ('sunrise' in Japanese). Hinode carries three instruments: the X-ray telescope (XRT), the EUV imaging spectrometer (EIS), and the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT). These instruments were developed by ISAS/JAXA in cooperation with the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan as domestic partner, and NASA and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (UK) as international partners. ESA and the Norwegian Space Center have been providing a downlink station. The Hinode (Solar-B) Mission gives a comprehensive description of the Hinode mission and its instruments onboard. This book is most useful for researchers, professionals, and graduate students working in the field of solar physics, astronomy, and space instrumentation. This is the only book that carefully describes the details of the Hinode mission; it is richly illustrated with full-color images and figures. This volume combines the first set of instrumental papers on the mission overview, EIS, XRT, and the database system along with the second set of papers on SOT and XRT.
