Tema(s): Recursos en línea: Resumen: The methanol fraction of the stem bark of Sarcocephalus Latifolius (Smith Bruce)was subjected to vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC)isolation method using an isocratic solvent of petroleum ether: ethyl acetate at a ratio of 1:9 by collecting 20ml each and 45 fractions were collected. Based on their Thin Layer Chromatographic (TLC)analysis, fraction 6, 7, 8 and 9 were combined to give SB-C which was further subjected to VLC and eluted isocratically using petroleum ether: ethyl acetate (1:9)to obtain SB-C-1 to SB-C-8 (8 Fraction). Fraction 5 shows a prominent single yellow spot that was cleaned further by Preparative Thin Layer Chromatography (PTLC)to obtain SB-C1. The structure of the compound was established by spectroscopic studies as well as by comparison with existing data. Based on these SB-C1 was proposed to be _-Sitosterol.
