No relationship was found between the degree of resistance to Globodera pallida and total glycoalkaloid content of the roots or tubers of a number of potato clones derived, from Solanum vernei x S. tuberosum. Nematode infestation of the roots did not lead to increases in the glycoalkaloid content of susceptible or resistant potatoes.
